St. Clair College Women’s Softball Host 4-0 Weekend

(Windsor, Ontario) – The St. Clair College Women’s Softball team moved their record to 14-4 with four wins this weekend at the campus diamond. The Lady Saints dropped Mohawk College (Hamilton) Saturday by scores of 9-4 and 11-0 followed by 5-0 and 3-2 wins over Humber College (Etobicoke) on Sunday.

St. Clair outlasted Mohawk in Saturday’s opening game overcoming a slight deficit with Sara Stiller (Windsor, ON/Holy Names) working 7 innings for the win on the mound. Alexandra Senft (Windsor, ON/Walkerville) had a home run and 2 RBI’s to lead the Saints offensively. In the mercy shortened second game Olivia Elliott (Oakville, ON) got her 5th win of the season on the mound for St. Clair and Senft contributing 3 more hits at the plate.

On Sunday the Saints scored 3 runs in the 4th inning and 2 more in the 5th to blank Humber College in the opener. Elliott earned her 6th win of the season for St. Clair in the fine form only surrendering 2 hits while striking out 11 batters for the complete game shutout. Sarah Bondy (Amherstburg, ON/General Amherst) had a double and an RBI for the Saints at the plate. Elliott came back to earn the save in the final game of the weekend after relieving Stiller who picked up her 6th win of the season for St. Clair. Megan Lumley (Windsor, ON/Holy Names) had a two hits and a double with 2 RBI’s for the Saints in that game.

St. Clair College Men’s Baseball Even 2-2 on Weekend

(Chatham, Ontario) – The St. Clair College Men’s Baseball team (10-4) held on to first place in the OCAA standings after winning twice over Durham College (Oshawa) in Chatham on Saturday but narrowly dropped both games Sunday against Humber College (Etobicoke) at Lacasse Park in Tecumseh.

On Saturday St. Clair flirted with a mercy in the opening game but prevailed in 7 innings by a score of 9-1 with Seth Chauvin (Tecumseh, ON/L’Essor) going the distance for the win on the mound. Curtis Cunningham (Lasalle, ON/St. Thomas of Villanova) had 3 RBI’s with Matt Brooks (St. Thomas, ON) and Carson Burke (Tecumseh, ON/St. Anne) adding a pair of hits each in the Saints attack. Game two on Saturday was a little closer but St. Clair hung on for a 7-5 win and Taylor Pappin (Brantford, ON) took victory on the mound with Mitchell Gault (Tecumseh, ON/Kennedy) earning a two inning save. Matt Bondy (Amherstburg, ON/General Amherst) had two hits for the Saints.

On Sunday St. Clair was on the short end of 6-3 and 4-3 losses to Humber College. The first game went to extra innings and Saints starting pitcher Kyle Breitner (Mississauga, ON) went unrewarded for his 8 innings on the mound. Austin Oulds (Chatham, ON) and Garik Godard (Belle River, ON) each had two hits in that loss for St. Clair. In the second game Saints starting pitcher Micah Harris (Harrow, ON) suffered his first loss of the season with Godard (2 for 3) and Oulds (3 for 4) supplying the offense.
